Beaverton City Council Moves Project Forward In early December, the Beaverton City Council made strides in moving a concept forward for the redevelopment of the Westgate site located in the Creekside district near The Round. To advance the project, the council authorized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with hotel developer O’Reilly Hospitality Management for an urban-style Cambria hotel with 140 to 150 rooms. The hotel is expected to be at least five stories, with a destination restaurant on the ground floor.
Plans also call for two mixed-use development buildings developed by Rembold Properties featuring residential housing with commercial space on the ground floor. Adjacent to Westgate at The Round, the development team proposes a Center for the Arts hosting a 450-seat performance theater, classrooms, event, and meeting spaces.
Beaverton Urban Renewal Agency (BURA) voted in December to purchase Lot 2 at The Round for a potential future publicly-owned parking garage.
Beaverton and Metro jointly own the vacant 3.9 acre, former Westgate Theater site. The parcel is located between SW Cedar Hills Boulevard and SW Rose Biggi Avenue and is near the Beaverton Central light rail station, next to The Beaverton Building (city hall), office buildings, and a mixed-use condominium development. The city’s Creekside District Master Plan identified Westgate as a catalytic site (its development could encourage other construction in the area). Once the project is complete, it will augment the existing Round development and create a lively and attractive urban destination—taking advantage of nearby light rail, and promoting redevelopment on nearby properties.
The Beaverton Central Creekside Redevelopment project is an early-stage development project. Many details may change as the project takes shape and evolves. The city’s goal is to provide accurate, timely, and up-to-date project details. This project information will be updated as new information is available, last updated December 8, 2015.
