Membership Requirements for the Human Rights Advisory Commission
There are nine regular members. City Council may appoint one or more alternates in addition to the regular members. Regular and alternate members should be demographically representative of the residents of the City. Members shall be property owners, residents, or engaged in business or employed in the City. The Commission elects a Chair and Vice-Chair at the annual meeting in January of each year. To apply for an opening, complete our online application or complete and return an application to:

All members, including alternates, are expected to attend all meetings. All members, including alternates, are also expected to be familiar with and understand City Codes and policy documents and to be active participants in Commission deliberations in a public setting. Subcommittee meetings will be scheduled as needed. All meetings are open to the public.
All members, including alternates, are expected to read all of the materials related to their meetings, some of which may be long and/or technical.
All members should be willing to dedicate a few hours per month for each general meeting, as well as any time required for subcommittees on which the commission volunteers to participate.
